Challenges faced

Johnny who is an user of Sheet Director wrote to us asking the following question

"We are trying to use Sheet Director to help us sync our master calendar to a Google sheet. A few questions:

1. Where/how does it pull the information? What are the fields from Google Calendar to Google Sheets? How is it mapping?

2. We often have 2-3 events happening at the same time. Will all events come over from the Calendar to Sheets? I know that they will not upload from Sheets to Calendar.

3. We have color coded our google calendar. How can I get the color coding to transfer over into the Google Sheet?"

Proposed Solution

For Johnny's question,

1. The data is retrieved using the Google Calendar API. The attached screenshot shows the fields that can be synchronized from a Google Sheet to Google Calendar events. It is important to ensure that the fields are mapped correctly in order to synchronize the information.

2. Yes, all events will be pulled into a Google Sheet from Google Calendar. You can choose multiple calendars if they are different.

3. The ColorId field is now supported for querying, posting, and syncing services. This allows you to update the color from Google Sheets to Calendar events.
