Challenges and Solutions
Challenges faced
One of our new users, Vaneesa (name changed), recently reached out with the following question:
*"How can I allow users to select a multiple-choice answer on my form while also providing a text input option if they choose 'Other'?
For example:
Please select one below:
-
MC Choice 1: Red
-
MC Choice 2: Blue
-
MC Choice 3: Other _____ (fill in the blank)
If a user selects 'Other,' how can I let them enter their own response as text?"*
Proposed Solution
To implement this functionality, we suggested vaneesa tofollow these steps:
-
Add an 'Other' Column – Create a column in your Google Sheet labeled Other, where values can be either true, false, or empty.
-
Enable the 'Other' Option – In the form settings, select this column for the 'Add Other at Column' input field.
-
Dynamic Text Input – Once this is set up, users selecting Other will automatically be prompted to enter their own text response, ensuring flexibility in their answer choices.
