Challenges and Solutions

Challenges faced 81138

One of our new users, Deenu wrote to us asking the following

"I'm reaching out because I'm not sure how to structure my google sheet to output multiple choice answers that follow the following format:

Question
Answer: Yes or no; if no, then ask for input (numbers only)

I have only been able to generate questions that have yes or no as responses, but how do I add the condition to ask for input if the user chooses no?"

Proposed Solution

There’s a way to accomplish the conditional Yes/No with numeric input logic in Google Forms, though it’s a bit tricky.
You’ll need to create separate sections for each Yes/No question and for the numeric input, then use Google Forms' “Go to section based on answer” feature to control the flow:
  • If the user selects Yes, you can bypass the input section and go directly to the next relevant question or submit.
  • If the user selects No, you direct them to the input section where they provide a number.
I’m sharing with you both:
Please review both for a better understanding.
FYI: In the Form sheet, when using options, you can set the navigation logic like this:
option_text | image_url | go_to_section

For example:
No ||| Training Info means if the user selects "No," they will be routed to the "Training Info" section.
Yes ||| NEXT_SECTION means it proceeds to the next section automatically.
